Wine Making Supplies for Purchase

In order to make wine at home, you have a couple of options. You can purchase a wine making kit. But there are additional supplies that you will want to obtain.

If your kit does not contain 30 bottles or the corks, you will need to purchase those so that you have somewhere to store your wine. You might want to purchase a Wine Thief which allows you to test your wine from the carboy without having to tip it and pour some out. Once you are done, you will want sanitizing chemicals so that you can reuse your wine making equipment.

Beyond these, though, you might want to consider upgrading the supplies that you get in a wine making kit. While you will probably get a standard corker in the kit, you might want to consider upgrading to a floor corker. Some other items that you might want to consider buying include:

• Bottle Washer
• Carboy Brush
• Thermometer (floating or adhesive)
• Automatic siphoning equipment (this would replace the siphoning equipment that comes with a typical kit)
• Bucket Opening Tool
• Oak Wood Chips
• Wine Additives to help sweeten or stablize your wine

Each of the above items are not a necessity but they can help enhance your wine and make your wine making experience easier in the long run. You might want to consider purchasing items little by little.
